This version of the Alca comes with a camouflage colour scheme.
This is a micro EDF powered EPP jet designed for use with a GWS EDF40. It’ll fly nicely on a brushed motor, or really come alive with a feigao brushless motor! The wingspan is just 20.25″!!
Battery selection:
If you are planning on using the stock brushed motor, you must only use a 2cell lithium pack – any more voltage than that will fry the motor. A kokam 640 2s1p is ideal for this setup giving good duration.
If you are going to use one of the feigao brushless motors, then you can use either 2 or 3 cells – if you use 3 cells a Kokam 360 3s1p will fit, anything larger than this will be too big.
Feigao brushless motors:
The hotter 5800KV motor is the preferred one to use, it is rated for use on 2cells. If used with 3 cells you have to be aware that you are pushing the motor quite hard & that it will get hot. If pushed too hard, ie long periods of full throttle it will possibly burn out – throttle control is needed.
The softer 4100KV version (standard IPS replacement) will be fine on 3 cells without any issues – this motor is not a good choice for a 2 cell setup.
It is also advised that which ever motor you use (even the standard brushed one), that you use a heatsink on the motor to aid cooling.
More info to follow shortly – This will be the must have model for 2006!
